Kesko in Sweden is once again blocking K-Rauta’s department store in Sundsvall. The group announces it today. The doors will close for the last time this fall and a total of 18 employees will be affected by the closure.

Department stores have long struggled with low profitability and it would take too much to reverse the trend, the decision is justified in a press release.

The decision to close K-Rauta in Sundsvall is very sad. The department stores and our staff have been highly appreciated by our customers and have done a great job. The closure is due to external factors, says Endre Espeseth, CEO and country manager of Kesko Sweden in a statement.

On the other hand, they maintain their second department store in the city, K-Bygg Fresks, which is more focused on professional customers.

We believe in the Sundsvall region. We continue our growth here through our K-Bygg brand. At Sundsvall, we successfully run K-Bygg Fresks in Murarvägen, which is aimed at professional clients as well as consumers, says Endre Espeseth.
