The last weekend of January offers snow, cold and sun.
The whole country can prepare for freezing temperatures. SMHI warns of snowfall in several regions: in Stockholm up to 20 centimeters of snow can fall on Thursday.
– The low pressure east of us continues to bring cold air, says Mikael Sjöstrand, Klart’s meteorologist.
Cold, but very sunny in many places.
This is how Mikael Sjöstrand, Klart’s meteorologist, sums up the weather for the weekend. Sub-zero temperatures and cold mornings are expected across the country.
– Even in the south, it can be between five and ten degrees below zero, says Mikael Sjöstrand, Klart’s meteorologist.

SMHI has issued a class 1 warning for snowfall in southern Sweden.
20 centimeters of snow in Stockholm
SMHI has issued a Class 1 snow warning in south-east Sweden, from Stockholm and the south. The affected counties are Stockholm, Södermanland, Östergötland and Kalmar. Most of the snow is expected over Stockholm, locally it can fall as much as 8 inches on Thursday.
Class 1 warning in southern Sweden
SMHI class-1 also warns of snowfall on Thursday in Skåne (except Österlen), Halland, Jönköping and Kronoberg. This means a risk of slipping on the roads.
– The snowfall that has arrived so far in the south will continue the rest of the week, when we have negative degrees both day and night, says Mikael Sjöstrand.
Unusually little snow in Riksgränsen
Last week a snowstorm hit the north coast of Norrland and a class 3 warning prevailed in Västerbotten.
Even more snow is expected along the Norrland coast this weekend.
But there is unusually little snow in the far north.
– Up to Riksgränsen, the depth of the snow is between three and five decimeters, which is significantly less than normal, says Mikael Sjöstrand.
Sunny weekend in western Sweden
Although it will be a cold weekend, the sun will be out in many parts of the country.
– Where you can be completely safe from the sun are the western parts of Götaland and towards Värmland. It seems that they are going to sunbathe on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, says Mikael Sjöstrand.
