The incident occurred on Sunday, when the boy, who is just over 1.5 years old, was with one of his parents in a playground. There, the boy found and ingested something suspected to be a corrosive liquid. The police have seized a plastic bottle that was found on the playground.
According to VLT, the boy was taken Sunday night to Astrid Lindgren Children’s Hospital, where he is asleep on a ventilator in the intensive care unit. The police report was drawn up Monday morning and submitted to a preliminary investigation chief.
– One thing to do is talk to the tutor who was there to see how the incident happened. The bottle with the contents is also of great interest for the investigation, Johan Thalberg, a police press spokesman, tells TT.
According to Thalberg, this type of event is very unusual. The fact that the police have launched a preliminary investigation is because the boy is so seriously injured.
– It is important to say that we have no indication that someone would have intentionally left this for a child to be injured in the current situation. So of course it is still serious if a bottle with corrosive content is left on a playground, says Johan Thalberg.
