More than 70 cadets from the historic West Point Military Academy in the United States are accused of cheating on a math test. The incident is described as the biggest scandal in more than 40 years at the elite school, which is known for its high morale. Recruits at West Point are expected to follow the school’s honor code: “A cadet must not lie, cheat, steal or tolerate those who do.”
58 freshmen have admitted to cheating on the math test, which was held remotely in May due to the coronavirus pandemic. Most have enrolled in rehab programs and some are suspended. Some have dropped out of officer training, writes USA Today.
West Point is located in New York. Among others, astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins have been here, as well as the 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S Grant, General and former CIA Director David Petraeus, and General Wesley Clark.
