The Giants came out of the group stage as expected. The German Leipzig with Emil Forsberg in the team repeated last year’s success and took the opportunity to put an end to Manchester United’s adventure in the Champions League.
Another Swede passed the group stage. Oscar Wendt’s Borussia Mönchengladbach played a second place in Group B where Real Madrid won. This is the first time that Mönchengladbach has made it past the group stage in CL.
On Monday the first round of the playoffs was drawn.
Emil Forsberg’s Leipzig immediately makes it difficult for him and will face English champions Liverpool. Juventus and Dejan Kulusevski get more comfortable beforehand and face Porto. There will also be a general meeting on the eighth. Barcelona, who finished second in their group, will face PSG.
The quarterfinals are played in mid-February and the return occurs at the start of the match.
