Celebration delayed for Degerfors – Sydsvenskan

After 23 years of waiting, Degerfors had the opportunity to secure promotion to the male Swede. But the 2-0 loss to relegation-threatened AFC Eskilstuna means the classic football club has to wait a little longer. – We will go up in the Allsvenskan, then how or when, it does not matter, says Degerfors Johan Bertilsson.

Just before kick-off, news came that the match between the last Ljungskile and Jönköpings Södra at table three would be postponed until 5:00 p.m. and moved to Gothenburg’s Bravida Stadium due to bad weather.

With a margin of eight points behind J-Södra, Degerfors needed to win to celebrate the rise in the final signal. But against an AFC Eskilstuna, who parks in the relegation zone and struggles to save the contract, it would be anything but easy.

The home team immediately took over and eventually won the match 2-0. According to Degerfors coach Tobias Solberg, the seriousness of the moment may have come into play.

– They are better throughout the game. We are a bit stuck. It was something different because we had not seen each other like this during the year. No player or coach is happy with this, he says.

Despite the support of visiting Degerfors fans who rented the balconies around Tunavallen, the visiting team was not really involved.

AFC Eskilstuna’s attacking trio posed major problems for Degerfors’ defense and also took the lead after 17 minutes of play. Chidi Omeje deflected a shot from the right that the visiting goalkeeper did well to score wide.

Almost ten minutes later the next cold shower came. Omeje again showed proof of good footing when he put a ball in the area and found Samuel Nnamani who sent the 2-0.

Degerfors managed to fight his way back into the match and created a string of half chances, but the really hot chances were missed.

Despite the loss, Degerfors can celebrate the breakthrough tonight. If Jönköpings Södra loses or loses away points against Ljungskile, the classic mill team returns to the Swedish men.

– We don’t have anyone’s help, but it is clear that Ljungskile is happy to help us a bit, says Johan Bertilsson.
