Canada continues to impress and there was never tension in the match.
Not a minute passed before Alex Newhook put the first record in the Russian box. Before the end of the first period, it was 3-0 for the reigning champions.
Last year, Russia led Canada 3–1 in the final, before Canada turned around and finally won 4–3. But those who waited for a similar turn from Russia in this year’s semi-final waited in vain.
Four minutes into the second half, defender Braden Schneider made his tournament scoring debut when he fired a well-placed shot behind Russian goalkeeper Jaroslav Askarov. The Russian goalkeeper had big problems during the match and lost several times to the club.
By contrast, Canada goalkeeper Devon Levi was named the best player in the game.
In the third period, a crooked Russia waited longer for the game to end, and in the final minutes, Canadian Dylan Cozens was able to put the goal 5-0 in the open area.
Canada’s final opponents will be the United States or Finland, who will meet in the second semi-final in Edmonton on Tuesday night Swedish time.
