Call: “Time to turn the leaves and look forward”

Stefan Thomson and Magnus Ingesson remain as coach of the ski team. They will be joined by newcomers Anders Högberg and Lars Ljung on the blue-yellow leadership team next season.

There have been some turmoil in the ski team leadership after last season. Male coaches Mattias Nilsson and Fredrik Uusitalo have resigned, but female coaches Stefan Thomson and Magnus Ingesson will continue to be, although some cyclists are said to have questioned them.

Charlotte Kalla has always had Ingesson as her personal trainer and is pleased to have him and Thomson on the national team.

– I think it really is time to turn the sheets and look forward now. There seems to have been a series in the media more than we discussed internally, Kalla says.

Common camps

The partly new leadership team, where Lars Ljung will be responsible for the Team Bauhaus development team, will work with ladies and gentlemen in the future. The riders, starting next season, will be more integrated with each other than before in the national A team.

This is something Kalla believes in.

– At the beginning of my career, we organized many fields together, ladies and gentlemen, so I really believe that everyone can win it, to work even more as a team, he says.

According to the new manager of the national team, Anders Byström, the reasons are partly economic given the current crisis in the crown.

“But above all it is about taking advantage of the drivers’ skills and we do it much better when we are a joint team,” he says.

Advancing in the organization

Veteran Kalla, who debuted at the World Cup in early 2006, believes the crown crisis has been good for the creation of the new national team organization that coach Daniel Fåhreus and national team manager Anders Byström have kept.

– Daniel and Anders have let it take time and have had a greater workload since it is not relevant for us to go to joint camps. This feels like a secure and stable organization with an incredible amount of progress, says Kalla.

In the team of the national team A of the next season there are a total of nine ladies and five men. Emma Ribom, Linn Svahn and Moa Lundgren formally take the stage in Team A after their strong efforts at the World Cup last season.

– It will be a lot of fun getting the whole gang into Team A. We all have different strengths we can learn from, says Kalla.

“Feel great calm”

Kalla thinks it is a challenge now that during the crown pandemic she is unable to plan and track when there will be collections with the national team.

– At the same time, it gives me the opportunity to focus on training and the important recovery. Right now I feel very calm and I am incredibly inspired to try to screw the details down even more in training.

TT: Do you have any concerns about the racing season?

– I may be naive, but I think we will compete in some way. So I am working to compete and compete with others this winter. I am highly motivated to do the job.
