C: Fredrick Federley’s trust is damaged

On Thursday, Center Party EU MP Fredrick Federley announced on social media that he has been feeling unwell for a long time and needs to recover and gain strength. The background is, he wrote, that a person who was previously close to him has been convicted of extremely serious crimes and they have now separated.

This is about a man who in 2014 was sentenced to a long prison term for, among other things, several aggravated violations against minors.

C: “You have known about this for a long time”

Center Party party secretary Michael Arthursson writes in a text message to SVT Nyheter that the center’s leadership learned of the crimes “on the afternoon of Monday, November 23, the day before it was made public.” Arthursson also writes that in conversations with Federley “it has emerged that he has known about this for a long time” and that it has “damaged trust in him.”

Sick leave until the end of January

Federley, who is also the second vice president of the Center Party, is today on sick leave until the last day of January next year. Arthursson writes: “Enough time to discuss what this means for your political future. We are not there now. ”

Federley is also Vice President of the Liberal Party in the European Parliament. The group’s spokesman, Luc Vernot, writes in an email to SVT that he has no comment today on Federley’s future in parliament.

SVT Nyheter has searched for Fredrick Federley, but has not been located.
