Borlänge and Falun rescue services were called to an address in downtown Borlänge on Friday. The callers must have seen heavy black smoke from the building.
The fire must have occurred in a village shortly after 9:00 p.m. and there are several police patrols at the scene.
“An effort to save lives”
According to initial information from the rescue service, the fire must have started in the kitchen. The rescue service fears that there are people in the building.
– It is a one-story villa with a basement. We have started a salvage operation where we go in and search for people, says Johan Nordin, internal commander.
Two picked up by smoke divers
According to police, two people were taken off the property by smoke divers. Emergency care is in progress on site. The rescue services must also have searched the building for a third person.
– We are searching but have not found more yet. Basically the fire goes out completely. The village is not completely destroyed, but we have been able to salvage parts, says Johan Nordin, internal commander.
Preliminary arson investigation begins
Lars Hedelin, a police press spokesman, says that the nurses have initiated measures to maintain life at the scene. Both people must be over 80 years old.
– We will initiate a preliminary investigation into arson. We do this because there is no obvious cause of the fire yet, says Lars Hedelin.
The site will be blocked.
