An SJ train on its way from Malmö to Stockholm has run on a moose. The collision occurred between Alvesta from Småland and Nässjö.
– In the crash, it is part of the front part of the train that came loose and damaged the catenary, so it is currently without power. Of course it affects the train, but we have two other trains in both directions that are also affected, says Lina Edström.
There is no information on personal injury related to the collision.
Still no forecast
SJ has sent replacement buses to the affected train and to the other trains in the powerless section. However, there is no forecast of when the buses will arrive, or when the electricity will return.
– We are waiting for the Swedish Transport Administration to inspect the road and then start it up and repair it. But there is no forecast yet, says Lina Edström.
– It is also not possible to say how many trains will be affected by this as it is not clear when the route will be repaired.
The train’s heating has been turned off, as the train lost power in the accident.
– We go out with information on the train and also on the other trains that are affected, the staff communicates what to think, says Lina Edström.
