Last night the northeast of England entered a new lockdown.
The closures affect ten million inhabitants and mean, among other things, that bars and restaurants close at 10 pm.
– The numbers show we must act now, Health Minister Matt Hancock said in a statement Thursday.
Now there are fears that the rest of England will be forced to do the same, according to the Daily Mail.
The temporary rules apply to Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Northumberland, South Tyneside, North Tyneside, and County Durham in North East England.
Starting Friday, residents of the affected areas must comply with new curfews and restrictions. On Saturday, Lancashire will also be covered by the new rules.
Which means that the inhabitants of much of the northeast of England can no longer visit the houses of their friends. Or meet your relatives in nursing homes.
The law requires total isolation
All people diagnosed with the coronavirus must remain in isolation, which is required by law. If you break them, the penalty becomes noticeable; a fine of up to £ 10,000 (equivalent to £ 120,000).
According to Sky News, only 20 percent of those who reported having COVID-19 stay home for the stipulated time of two weeks.
The new “fine”, which starts at 1,000 pounds, will take effect on September 28.
