Bosse Andersson on the Djurgården recruits

Djurgården has started recruiting players for 2021 at a rapid pace.

A natural consequence of a series of advance sales according to the sporting director.

– We have done what we could have done during the year. It’s more of a vintage, Bosse Andersson tells Sportbladet.

BP fullback Axel Wallenborg has been linked to Djurgården and interest has been opened. According to Expressen, it should even be fully applauded and clear that Dif buys the 19-year-old.

However, Bosse Andersson has no interest in confirming that signing on Sunday.

– We have had a contact with BP. Otherwise, I have no comment, says Andersson, who also says “we haven’t even met him,” when Sportbladet calls.

“Pretty natural”

But no matter how close Axel Wallenborg is to wearing blue stripes, there were plenty of other new acquisitions under the Christmas tree this year for Djurgårds fans.

Finnish national team player Rasmus Schüller, team captain Sirius Elias Andersson and defensive talents Isak Hien and Leo Cornic have been introduced in Djurgårdsställ ahead of the Christmas holidays.

Have you deliberately tried to be early in recruiting?

– It was also the case that we thanked several players the week before. We also lost seven or eight players. We were careful in 2020 to sell soccer players. Now we had the sales planned and we agreed with the players to sell this winter, which we did. So it’s very natural that we have a lot of players who need to be replaced, says Bosse Andersson.

“No pressure”

And although players like Fredrik Ulvestad, Jesper Karlström and Jonathan Augustinsson have been substituted in the numbers, the sporting director does not rule out that some later signings may also appear.

– What is possible to do, of course, we do, but we are not in a hurry. We neither think nor push ourselves (leave early). We know it will be a special year and everyone wants to have a team ready when it starts. But I don’t think everyone accepts it.

But do you plan to do it early?

– We will try to have as much as possible. But we will certainly have some piece of the puzzle that won’t be finished this spring as well.
