Kenneth and Eva Holm Nordlander let their 7, 10 and 12 year old children pawn the family jars and buy candy for the money.
But outside the store, they were surrounded by other children and teenagers who abused them and took all the candy.
– We are completely shocked. They probably don’t dare to go to the store anymore, says Eva Holm Nordlander.
Two boys, ages seven and twelve, and their 10-year-old sister, received a huge offer from their parents on Friday. They are usually not allowed to go to the store themselves, even though it is only three minutes from the Nordlanders family home in Borlänge. But now they would have to order all the jars and bottles the family had collected. The money they had to buy sweets and sodas themselves.
– When they leave the store, they are surrounded by a group of younger boys, who were about their age, and a group of older teenagers. The little ones start kicking and hitting them and then snatch the candy from them, says Father Kenneth Nordlander.
Shocked and scared
When the children arrived home, with bruises on their legs and a bump on the twelve-year-old boy’s forehead after kneeling on his forehead, they were shocked.

When the children arrived home, with bruises on their legs and a bump on the twelve-year-old boy’s forehead after kneeling on his forehead, they were shocked.
– The girl got very scared and laughed. They didn’t do much to her, they just pushed her a bit, but she had seen children get slapped on the head and kicked, says mother Eva Holm Nordlander.
The kids didn’t want any new candy that night. Kenneth and Eva called the police, who took the children’s testimonies and photographed the bulge on their foreheads.
– We had to sit and talk for a long time during the night, so they don’t have nightmares or something like that. This was terrible for them. They probably don’t dare to go down to the store anymore even if we follow them, says Eva.
Difficult classification for the police
Police confirm that a report has been received in Borlänge about a crime against three children. But the criminal classification is not ready yet. Right now, the case falls under assault and robbery, but that may change during the course of the investigation, says Bergslagen region spokesman Stefan Wickberg.
– There has been so much coercion and violence here that they still had to give up the candy they bought. He’s getting closer to supporting the robbery, says Stefan Wickberg of the case.
The police confirm that they are very young perpetrators. Some of them will go to the same school as the children they robbed, the parents say they will come to the school on Monday to talk to the young lady.
But today the family is going to another store.
– They will have to collect all the sweets they lost yesterday, says Eva.
