UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is leading a crisis meeting on Monday to discuss outside world travel restrictions, due to the new coronavirus mutation that is spreading in the country.
In particular, the flow of goods into and out of the UK will be discussed, the prime minister’s staff announced on Sunday.
A large number of European countries have interrupted air and train travel to and from the UK on short notice. France also stops all transport of goods handled by people.
On Sunday, the Port of Dover announced that it would be closed to cargo and passenger traffic, due to French border restrictions.
The travel restrictions come at a difficult time for many British companies, who replenish their stocks before the turn of the year, when the current transition rules for trade with the EU expire.
