On Sunday, several of the victims of this weekend’s brutal jihadist attack were buried in northeastern Nigeria.

The jihadist group Boko Haram announced in a video that it will face the brutal massacres of agricultural workers this weekend in northeast Nigeria.

The death toll after the attack had risen to 76 on Tuesday.

It was on Saturday that gunmen arriving on motorcycles attacked people working in the rice fields outside the one million town of Maiduguri in Borno state. Several of the victims were tied up and beheaded by the attackers.

On Sunday, 43 of the victims were buried and on Monday 33, says state official Babakura Abba Jatau, adding that they are still searching the area for the dead after residents said several people who were in the rice fields are still missing. .

On Sunday, the UN humanitarian representative in Nigeria stated that at least 110 civilians had been killed in the attack. But then the number was written down in “tens” because the highest number of victims had not been confirmed.

According to jihadist videos, the attack appears to have been a revenge for residents who captured Boko Haram members and handed them over to authorities.

Boko Haram and its allies in the terrorist group IS, a West African organization, have increasingly directed their violent acts against farmers.

The 10-year Islamist armed uprising in northeast Nigeria has claimed at least 36,000 lives. More than two million people have been forced to flee their homes.
