After a long time with negative degrees in most of the country, the temperatures have risen to more and the rain is beginning to arrive in some parts of the country. Something that is now causing big problems in road traffic and the worst on Friday morning was in Örebro county.
There have been several accidents and school buses have been parked in several municipalities.
– It has turned into icy streets, which is a problem. We have been outside and slip resistant overnight and will of course continue as long as necessary, says Katarina Wolffram, press spokesperson for the Swedish Transport Administration.
Stop on highway 50
– We have received many accident reports and there are stops in various places. Among other things, on Highway 50 north of Örebro, which is completely closed and where the forecast is 12 before traffic can be released again.
A tanker truck and three cars are involved in a traffic accident on highway 63 in Saxhyttan, Hällefors.
– It is slippery like freshly washed ice on the site and the road is completely blocked, says Nina Begallo, at SOS Alarm, responsible for the Bergslagen rescue region, to SVT Örebro.
SMHI warns of sudden ice sliding in several places, but it is not only central Sweden that is affected.
– SMHI’s forecast is just the tip of the iceberg. It is slippery in many more places, in fact all over southern Sweden there is a risk of slipping.
When the slip can disappear it is difficult to answer.
– We have salted and sanded but if it continues to rain it will still be frozen.
“Keep your distance”
Sweden is also in the first of a total of four weeks with sports holidays and many motorists can go to the mountains, among other places. Therefore, the advice of the Swedish Transport Administration is to keep your distances.
– It’s very important, you don’t know what the front looks like, if a car skids or falls into the ditch, says Katarina Wolffram.
