Björklöven and Timrå battled for a place in SHL last season. But then came the corona pandemic and the hockey season was canceled.

On Friday, Björklöven faced Timrå. Two teams that are considered main candidates beforehand.

The home team got off to a good start, but Björklöven played and just over halfway through the second period Alex Hutchings broke the deadlock.

Scored two quick goals

The second period was a bad opportunity and ended scoreless. Some of what was criticized by the new acquisition Jacob Blomqvist.

– We can do better. Sometimes it is good, but we can do better. There are some premiere nerves but we are alert. If we score a goal, we will fly forward. There is a huge willingness to make the move to SHL in the association, says Blomqvist in C more.

Timrå had a tough last 20 and failed to get a reduction. Instead, the visiting team extended to 2-0 through Daniel Rahimi and minutes later, Tyler Vesel scored 3-0 in powerplay. Timrå cut to four minutes to go through Sebastian Hartmann before Alexander Wiklund made it 4-1 in an empty net. The result meant that Björklöven took the first victory of the season.

“It is a monster”

– It was fun to score goals. I think we play a good game where everyone takes responsibility. We cover shots and should be happy with the effort of the job. It’s fun to win, but a lot of games to go, says Rahimi, highly praised by coach Hans Wallson:

– Rahimi is a monster. So much fun to watch. We want to cover the shots and then we have to sacrifice the body. We have been improving more and more. Three points, that’s good, says Wallson.

Timrå coach Fredrik Andersson was disappointed after the match and believes it was an even match.

– It’s a good hockey game played out there. We are at least as good as them. We are a bit careless in the passing game and we have to improve that. They are a little stronger than us today, so they win, says Andersson.
