Lotta Engberg and Stefan Odelberg lead the “Bingolotto” reunion night.

Before this year’s reunion night, Bingolotto has doubled the lottery prize.

It annoys loyal viewers, especially this year when more people feel alone with television as their sole undertaking.

– I really hope people think it’s reasonable money, says host Lotta Engberg.

“La velada de Bingolotto” is one of the most important broadcasts of TV4 every year.

In 2018, the show was the channel’s most-watched, second only to the World Cup match between Sweden and Switzerland, with more than 2.2 million viewers.

– This is the most important night of TV4 in a year, says the manager of the business area of Bingolotto Mikael Kjellström.

Last year, the program broke sales records with a turnover of 200 million SEK, which generated just over 60 million SEK for associations in the country.

Record interest

Before this year’s reunion night, the price of tickets has increased by 100 percent, from 50 to 100 crowns. It has caused some to have climbed to the roof, both because of the increase and because of the pandemic that forces more people to stay home this Christmas.

– It’s too damn. I don’t give 700 bucks for seven raffle tickets. Is it because you know that many are sitting at home this year? I think it’s very ugly for “Bingolotto” to do it, says a reader on the Kristianstadbladet discussion page.

Bingolotto business area manager Mikael Kjellström says he hasn’t heard much criticism about this year’s sharp price increase.

On the other hand, he says that interest before this year’s meeting is record high. His guess is that more than two million tickets have been sold so far and he estimates that it will land twice before the broadcast. On the other hand, he says he has respect for the fact that there are those who feel that the price increase is in the stronger team.

– We really don’t expect anyone to have to give up the evening because the lottery costs 100 SEK and we haven’t received much criticism, I must say, he says.

– We don’t think you will miss the meeting night even if there has been a price adjustment.

Not raised in 20 years

The last time ticket prices were raised was in 2000, he notes.

How were your thoughts before the price went up?

– This was largely decided after last year’s reunion night. We have been discussing this topic for many years. It has nothing to do with the pandemic, now it has become like this.

But did you ever think that “maybe we should refrain from getting up this year, due to the pandemic”?

– When the pandemic was real, this decision was already implemented. Someone told me “but print more tickets then”. We order these tickets in early spring. It is with great anticipation that these kinds of things happen. It was not a hasty decision, says Mikael Kjellström.

The host Lotta engberg He points out that all surpluses go directly to the life of the association, which was also affected by the crown crisis, or to the winners.

– I think there is something positive for both lottery buyers and associations, he says. SEK 100 to be part of a full night with 4.5 hours of live streaming … I really hope people think it’s reasonable money.
