The police and the municipality intervened on Saturday against a party with 250 people in Södertälje.
Now mixing bans are being introduced in nightclubs.
“This applies to events or other gatherings where dances, games, conviviality or similar activities are practiced,” writes communicator Åsa Zasi.
During the pandemic, large parties with several hundred guests continued to be organized in Södertälje. This is despite the fact that the municipality is highly affected by the coronavirus and has one of the highest spread of infection in the country.
“One factor that contributes to the rapid spread of the infection is large parties with dances or similar activities. During the pandemic, Södertälje still organizes many large parties with 200-500 people and sometimes even more. Large weddings are often held with guests from other countries, other parts of Sweden or the region, ”writes the environmental committee.
On Saturday, the municipality together with the police conducted an inspection of one of the party flats in the municipality, previously reported by Aftonbladet.

The festivities have continued in Södertälje, despite the pandemic.
Ban on mixing until mid-March
The municipality has now decided that 13 party floors in the municipality are prohibited from organizing events.
“The decision means that the representatives are prohibited, with the support of the Environmental Code, from organizing parties, events or other gatherings where the participants perform dances, games, gatherings or similar activities. The ban also covers concerts, ”writes communicator Åsa Zasi in an email to Aftonbladet.
Support of the Environmental Code
The municipality and the police have previously had difficulty getting around the problem because they can only intervene with legal support, such as the Alcohol Law and the Public Order Law. The municipality has now decided to prohibit mixing with the support of the Environmental Code.
“Being infected with the virus means an obvious inconvenience to human health, which can cause harm both to those affected by the disease and to their loved ones. The Environment Committee considers that the Environment Code is applicable to protect health human injury or discomfort in this case ”, writes the Environment Committee in its decision.
All business owners have now been informed by email about the new rules.
“In cases where the representatives do not send a confirmation that they have received the decision, the police enter with resources. The police then visit the representative and deliver the decision, this to ensure that everyone has been reached by the information, “writes communicator Åsa Zasi in an email to Aftonbladet.
The ban applies until March 14.
