On March 8, a gasoline bus collided with a train at Hisingen in Gothenburg. The bus had had the engine stopped in the middle of the road and was demolished in the accident.
Now the Keolis bus company has found a probable reason why the bus stopped, reports SVT Väst.
The bus had a fault that was only temporarily repaired. According to SVT, which has received bug reports, the bus had gone to a workshop several times to repair an open front hatch. And when that door is opened, the engine shuts down and cannot be restarted until the fault is fixed.
“We have clear indications that it has to do with a hatch or a hatch sensor on the bus,” writes Henrik Cederqvist, Keolis Syd traffic area manager, on the company’s intranet, according to SVT.
Keolis emphasizes to the television channel that the investigations are far from complete, but admits that most of the indications point to the fact that it was the bus’s own security system that caused the accident.
No serious injuries have been reported in connection with the accident.
