It came to a complete stop in traffic on E 22 between Hjärup and Råby for just over an hour on Monday afternoon.
The reason was that 19 cars were involved in two different accidents.
– One person has been examined by ambulance personnel, says Evelina Olsson, press spokeswoman for the Southern Police Region.
At 4.30 pm on Monday afternoon, the police, ambulance and rescue service had to retreat to a place near Råby, on the outskirts of Lund, after an alarm that several cars had been involved in a traffic accident in a northbound lane.
The collision meant a total stop of traffic.
Shortly after the first alarm, a new alarm occurred about another nearby traffic accident.
That accident also happened on the E22, but in Hjärup, about a mile southwest of Råby.
– In the accident at the height of Råby, there were ten cars involved and in Hjärup there were nine, says Evelina Olsson.
Since the accident that occurred in Hjärup, three cars were rescued from the site and one person had to be examined by ambulance personnel at the site. The injury status of the examined person is unclear.

According to the police, these are cars or a smaller van.
– We were able to leave the place around 17:30, says Evelina Olsson.
It is not known what caused the accident.
– Currently there is no criminal suspicion, says Evelina Olsson.
Even if rescue units have left the site and damaged cars have been rescued, the Swedish Transport Administration writes on its website that there may be ongoing accessibility problems at the site.
