Just before four o’clock the night before, the Berlin police announced that a shooting had taken place in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin. According to the German daily Bild, three people were seriously injured and taken to hospital.

The shooting is said to have taken place near the headquarters of the Willy-Brandt-Haus Social Democratic Party. But a German police spokesman says there is no indication the shooting was politically motivated.

Currently, it is not clear what is behind the shooting. According to TT, eyewitnesses at the scene claim that heavily armed police patrol the area during the morning.

The Berlin rescue service writes on twitter that they have made a joint effort with the police and have taken three seriously injured to hospital.

The German newspaper Bild writes that the police are searching for the perpetrators by helicopter. During the morning, parts of the area around the Möckernbrücke metro station were also cordoned off.
