Recently, sports injury therapist Dale Reese, leader Stefan Thordarson and marketing manager Robin Bornehav left IFK Norrköping. Now the faithful servant Stefan Hellberg, 65, who among other things was assistant coach of the club’s Swedish Championship gold in 1989 and 2015. And Hellberg is harshly criticizing the club’s board.

– I can no longer defend the culture that we have today in our association. I can’t leave without saying what I think. It is an obligation, to my colleagues and to IFK Norrköping. I am in a position to do that. I don’t want to do that, but I have to. I should have done it sooner, Hellberg tells NT.

When asked what kind of culture it is, Hellberg responds:

– The board does not treat people in a respectful way. The board’s task is, like we in football, to make sure to motivate, inspire and encourage everyone through their coaches. Today we do not have that environment. Many in the association do not feel that support or security. The high turnover of our staff proves it. The board may have an opinion that this is not how I experience it.

Hellberg also says that he himself has not been particularly exposed, but mentions that several felt bad when the coach of the Beijing players, Mikael “Gädda” Hansson, was forced to leave the association last year.

– I have reason to say that many IFK Norrköping employees do not trust the leadership of the board and that is exactly how people are treated. Peter Hunt, as president, is ultimately responsible for that. I am not used to fighting, but I see people who do not feel well, are sad and cannot perform in their work. It is serious for the future of the association.

Hellberg also says he wants to see a new club president. Peter Hunt, President of Beijing, responded to NT in an email in which he writes, among other things:

“I am saddened to hear quite vicious accusations against me and the board. I don’t know where the criticism is based. It is a brutal attack on me and the IFK board that I consider unfriendly.”

IFK Norrköping midfielder Simon Thern writes the following on Twitter:

“It wasn’t long ago that you ran criticism and were declared an idiot. I can believe it. But when one of the most humble people I have ever met, Stefan Hellberg, runs this review, then I ask you who are the Beijing fans. Stefan is IFK. “
