– Of course, it is good to attract attention in this way, but if I am so different from many other farmers, I do not know, says Andreas Eriksson, modest but happy.

He is the same as others but no, farmer of the fourth generation, and also with the same starting yard as three previous generations of the family, Ramsta Söderby.
– Eight years have passed since I took over the 20 hectares of the farm and the 20 hectares of land for lease, says Andreas Eriksson.

Ramsta Söderby is driving He is still, but since last year the rental farm of the Balingsta father’s house has been the seat of agriculture, and he lives there with his partner. A total of 160 hectares of cultivated land belongs to Balingsta and for this there will be 100 leased acres in Ramstalund.
– But in the machine work that I have with my father and one for the farmers, there are 700 hectares. Owning machines together or touring the machines of others may not be a prerequisite for running a farm today, but I highly recommend it.

The benefits are not just financial Andreas Eriksson thinks, it is also good to have colleagues and coworkers. In her case, family members are also included, not only the father but also the grandfather at work.

As a farmer, he has always focused entirely on growing grain. Livestock has never interested you:
– Farming and technology, that’s what I think is fun, so for me this is like having a hobby that I get paid to do, says Andreas Eriksson.

Now that he has also become one of Grodden’s ten colleagues, he has met with Lantmännen’s leadership at a full-day seminar in Stockholm in connection with last year’s Lantmännen General Assembly.

– A good opportunity to convey our points of view to management, and also hear how they intend for the organization to develop. For example, putting up as many silos as they did a few years ago was not as good. Now some have reopened, in the 4th century, for example.

On EU agricultural aid Andreas Eriksson doesn’t say much:
– But it is clear that I prefer to be paid for what I produce than to seek contributions with all the paper sex that it requires.

On GM crops, he says:
– GMO processing I see is not a problem. However, problems will arise if large companies like Monsanto manufacture specific GMO products, which in turn require specific Monsanto products for fertilizer and weed control. Diversity is good.

Organic cultivation is nothing. Andreas Eriksson has plans to start in the coming years:
– Not as it seems now. It is easier for ranchers who receive fertilizers from their own farm.
