Australia extends border closure
Australia’s borders remain closed for at least another three months. Most of the nation’s states plan to be able to open their borders to each other just in time for Christmas.
Cruises are still transported from Australian ports. The Ruby Princess ship in April. Several hundred cases of corona infection have been linked to passengers on the Ruby Princess.
“The Australian Health Protection Committee believes that the international and national COVID-19 situation continues to pose an unacceptable risk to public health,” the statement said.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said during a press conference that seven of the country’s eight states and territories agreed to open their borders in December. Morrison also says talks are underway with New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern about creating the so-called travel bubble between countries.
