Astra Zeneca will not be able to deliver the promised quantity of vaccine due to production problems | Exterior

AstraZeneca will be able to supply EU countries with doses of vaccine “significantly” less than planned. Both the Financial Times and the German Bild experience this with reference to EU and company sources. Production issues must be behind the written submission.

Astra Zeneca met with EU member states and the European Commission on Friday afternoon, then the company is said to have warned union members about the problems.

According to the company, this is not an actual delivery delay, but the number of vaccine doses is lower than originally estimated due to “reduced production” in the European logistics chain.

One person described the loss “significantly” during the meeting and another said it “doesn’t look good any time soon.”

The company still says it will supply EU countries with tens of millions of doses during February and March, and will continue to increase production.

The Astra Zeneca vaccine plays a key role in the EU’s fight against coronavirus. The EU, with a population of just under 450 million, has reserved 400 million doses of Swedish-British Astra Zeneca.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is expected to take a position on the use of the Astra Zeneca vaccine in the EU in January.
