Arrested for kidnapping teachers has previously been convicted of kidnapping

On Tuesday, August 25, there is a lot of tension in the Gothenburg area. For two weeks, there has been a conflict between some of the city’s criminal gangs. One of them, what is often called the family network, has its stronghold around Angered.

Hjällbo, Gårdsten, Hammarkullen, and Lövgärdet are residential areas where residents notice the escalation. The masked men have put up barricades to control how people move. Armed people are seen quite frankly on the streets. The rest of the population prefers to stay at home.

In the middle of the day it is observed at least one armed person at Lövgärdesskolan secondary school. The staff there immediately sound the alarm, the children are sent home, and a large police operation is formed. When the employees leave the school a few hours later, one of them is hit in his car, taken away and beaten.

On Saturday, a man was arrested on suspicion of this. The act is classified as kidnapping and aggravated assault, but also aggravated assault in court because the act is believed to be related to the alarm to police earlier that day. The speaker must be muted.

The man arrested he has been punished before, mainly for drug-related offenses of varying severity. Investigators have not commented on his possible connection to the gang, but when police summarize this week’s efforts against the gang conflict, they include the arrest of the alleged kidnapper. Another person was also detained at first, suspected of being involved in the attack on the teacher, but later released.

“After certain controls and investigative measures, however, the degree of suspicion against that person was significantly reduced,” prosecutor Thomas Willén wrote in an email to DN:

Now the investigation is underway at a delicate stage, according to Willén, who therefore does not want to comment further on the case.

When DN reviews the detainee’s criminal record, we find a clear new connection between him and the gangs at war. He has been previously convicted of the same thing – kidnapping and assault – in a 2010 verdict. There are several crime victims involved in that case and several perpetrators who acted in groups.

One of the perpetrators then, ten years ago, is the man who is now detained. Another is the youngest son of the Angereds family, who dominates the criminally charged family network in the district.

The police have been arrested several people during the week’s anti-gang efforts. Three are suspected of serious firearm offenses and 26 people were arrested in connection with the establishment of roadblocks. Two people are already arrested for attempted murder at a gas station in Hisingen on 12 August.

– I would like to urge the public to get in touch with tips and observations that can help us in our work. Criminals who commit crimes in our city must be investigated and prosecuted, says Commander Dan Windt in a comment on the operation.

His call is against the spread of rumors on the ground in conflict-affected areas. When DN was in Lövgärdet the other day, many of those we spoke to said they did not want to speak openly about the situation. “Not after what happened to the teacher.”

The prosecution must begin in that case on September 11. The detainee denies any wrongdoing.
