About 20 child and adolescent psychiatry (bup) employees at Uppsala University Hospital have been infected with the coronavirus. Employees Upsala Nya Tidning spoke to think the workplace should close.
– More than 20 staff members are confirmed as positive, but management does nothing, says a care employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, to UNT.
Psychiatry operations manager Gunilla Svedström doesn’t think it’s strange that staff in the Uppsala region, which is a large workplace, are getting sick with covid-19.
– It is not possible to say exactly in what part of society people have been infected, he says.
At the same time, the region is looking for health personnel due to the pressure situation. Health Director Mikael Köhler addresses those with relevant nursing training and experience and says that the staff are struggling “but they need to be more.”
“We know that there are nurses and nursing assistants who have previously worked in the health sector and now work in other workplaces. We hope that some of them will want to come and help their former colleagues,” says Mikael Köhler according to a statement from press.
