An angry cat does it for the home care and home care service staff in Örebro. The cat lives with a caregiver, but when it needs help in the bathroom, the cat jumps on the shoulders and back of the staff, bites and spreads its claws to keep from falling, writes Arbetarskydd magazine.
Employees have tried to bait the cat out of the bathroom, but the patient retrieves the scratching animal and it hasn’t helped that staff have tried to correct the person.
The Swedish Work Environment Authority has assessed working conditions during home visits and prohibits the cat from being in the bathroom when staff are there.
The cat “tears and bites workers when they try to prevent the cat from jumping on them,” says the Swedish Work Environment Authority, which in its prohibition requires that the cat be “delimited so that it does not come into contact with the workers.”
The authority threatens the municipality of Örebro with a fine of SEK 200,000 if the decision is not complied with.
