During the last day of the NHL draft yesterday, the Los Angeles Kings traded the rights to Lias Andersson and had to send a 60th option to the Rangers in exchange.
– It feels great and I’m super excited. I knew something could happen but I didn’t expect anything. It was a bit shocking, but it was fun. They have Byfield (Quinton) now and something good is happening, Lias Andersson tells HockeyNews.se.
The advantages are several.
He gets an environmental change and a new opportunity to join the league, his friend Jacob Moverare (on loan to SaiPa) belongs to the same organization.
A fun touch is that Dad Niklas Andersson is a scout at the club.
– It feels great with Jacob. We met in Jönköping when we started high school there and immediately spoke on the phone and just laughed. We are very happy about this, says Lias.
What did dad say?
– He was as surprised as I was. He also didn’t know anything until they told him just before it happened.

Now Lias Andersson not only wants to join the LA Kings in the future, but he also wants to show New York Rangers management that the seventh pick in the 2017 draft is an NHL player.
Andersson has played two JVMs for Juniorkronorna.
17/18 made his first seven NHL games, the following year there were 42 games and in the just-concluded 19/20 season he started with 17 games for the Rangers before the forward was loaned to HV71.
He had 12 points (7 + 5) in 15 games last year.
This fall, there have been four points from five games.
– I think, if it can be said, that Kings made a good attempt and I hope I can show it also in the future and also for Rangers that I am a player who can play at a high level there.
What this means for his future in HV71 this winter, the striker cannot answer at present.
The NHL has introduced January 1 as a possible starting day for the 20/21 season.
What has King’s management said about the loan agreement and what will apply for the rest of the season?
– I do not know yet.
