Stopped flights and traveler tests: Now, more and more European countries are tightening their measures to exclude the new variant of the virus.
But Sweden is not changing anything yet.
– We are analyzing the issue, says Sara Brynedal, press release for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The alarm about the new strain of the virus, which may be up to 70 percent more contagious than the original, has caused concern in Europe in a short time.
On Sunday alone, several countries, including Italy, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium, stopped all flights to and from the UK. Ireland closes flights and ferries.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to introduce a joint ban on flights from the UK to the EU. According to Focus Online, Merkel will call French President Emmanuel Macron as soon as possible to discuss the issue.
Just before 6 p.m., the news came that the EU was convening a video conference on the new variant of the virus.

Norwegian characteristic: request negative test
At the same time, there will be information from Norway that a negative corona test will be requested from anyone traveling from the UK.
Additionally, arriving travelers are encouraged to retest for COVID-19 and self-quarantine.
The Norwegian Health Directorate also writes on its website that they are considering new measures to prevent the new variant of the virus from spreading in Norway.
“It can be changed”
But from the Swedish side, there are currently no plans to take further action.
– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has drawn attention to the measures taken by the other EU countries. We are looking into the question of whether there is a reason to reintroduce a travel council in the UK, says Sara Brynedal, a press release for the Foreign Office.
– We can decide the advice in regards to infection, but it is on the recommendation of FHM, he continues.

Found since September
State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell writes in an email to Aftonbladet that the new variant of the virus has been in the UK since September and has become more common in recent weeks.
The variant is found in areas where the spread of the infection is increasing and British authorities are investigating the connection between the properties of the virus and the spread of the infection.
“What is known today is that Covid-19 disease is no different if you are infected with VUI202012 / 01 than if you are infected with other variants of SARS-CoV-2,” writes Tegnell.
FHM: Will return with a message
But the authority does not rule out that Sweden also acts due to the new variant of the virus.
“The Swedish Public Health Agency monitors and analyzes the situation in consultation with the authorities of other EU countries and will return with information when a decision has been made on the continued management of the problem,” writes Director General Johan Carlson.
Outside of the UK, nine cases have been detected in Denmark and some cases in Belgium and the Netherlands.
