Uppsala residents have been toughened since the Swedish Public Health Agency issued local corona rules in the region, according to new infection tracking statistics. The effect is likely to be the same in other regions.

A total of 18 of the 21 regions of the country have local pandemic restrictions, and Uppsala was the region that was the first to receive local austerity measures on October 20. Since then, a small proportion of people have been infected in social settings.
– Something has happened, says Mats Martinell, doctor in charge of the sampling unit in Uppsala.
In infection tracking work, covids are asked where they think they may have been infected. Before local councils were issued, 34 percent of those infected believed they had received COVID-19 in social contexts. Since the tips were introduced, that share has dropped to 22 percent.
– The cinema, the theater, the church, the pub, the nation and the restaurant have decreased a lot, says Mats Martinell.
Instead, it is believed that more have been infected at home or at work.
– We see that it has had an effect on behavior.
Based on the results, it is not possible to say that city councils have had an effect on the number of people infected, but this is likely because the behaviors affect the spread of the infection, says Mats Martinell.
– Next week or the next we should see that the increase in the number of patients decreases or even decreases, he says.
Since the highlands have changed their behavior since the local councils were issued, the same should apply in other regions, Martinell believes.
– Uppland is often said to be like a “Mini Sweden” in demographics.
