When?
The debate started at 9:00 p.m. local time, that is, 03:00 Swedish time, and lasted 90 minutes. You can watch the debate here on gp.se.
Where?
The site of the battle is Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. This is the second time that the private Christian school has organized a presidential candidate debate. Barack Obama and John McCain debated here in the 2008 election campaign.
How?
What’s new in this debate is that the microphones are muted when the other candidate speaks. Each candidate must be allowed to speak continuously for two minutes at the beginning of each new topic of conversation. The new rules have been added since the first debate where the candidates screamed at each other for much of the event.
The topics of the debate are covid-19, the racial issue in the USA, families, national security, climate change and leadership.
Comes?
The Republican candidate, incumbent President Donald Trump, lags behind in national opinion polls. But the gap with Democrat Joe Biden, the former vice president, is relatively small in some of the states that can decide the election.
The moderator is Kristen Welker of NBC News.
