Alexei Navalny is currently in Germany, where he is recovering from novitjok neurotoxin poisoning earlier this fall.
The Kremlin has declared that Navalny is “free to return” to Russia, which it also intends to do according to the “Cinema for Peace” organization that helped Navalny reach Germany.
Frozen bank accounts
But once in Russia, Navalny will have no resources.
Due to a lawsuit filed by the Russian catering company Moscow Schoolchild, his bank accounts have been frozen and his apartment confiscated.
– This means that the apartment cannot be sold, given away or mortgaged, says a spokesperson for the company. in a video on Twitter.
The dispute comes after Navalny and his partners openly criticized the quality of the company’s food, which should have affected the company financially.
The company hung up
A reporter from the Reuters news agency is said to have tried to contact the Russian catering company via nine different phone numbers. Once they got an answer, the person hung up on the other end of the phone.
According to Navalny supporters, the lawsuit is part of a coordinated attack against him, which the Russian authorities have denied.
Russia has also denied any involvement in the Navalny poisoning.
