On Wednesday, IFK Göteborg introduced Jakob Johansson, 29, who signed a two-year contract with the club. The transition has been made possible with funding from IFK GBG Transferintressenter AB and is therefore not a burden on the club’s budget.

But Blue and White are not really clear on the recruiting front. According to SportExpressen data, veteran Alexander Farnerud, 36, is ready for games at IFK Gothenburg.

Blue-white improves further

The club recently submitted a license application to the Swedish Football Association to register Alexander Farnerud according to the information to SportExpressen.

– Oh seriously? I have nothing to say about it. I have no comment, says sports manager Kennet Andersson.

IFK Gothenburg sees Farnerud as a cheap solution and a good and complete addition to the relatively lean squad.

If nothing unforeseen happens, Farnerud will appear shortly. The 36-year-old belonged to Helsingborgs IF last season, but the club did not award him an extended contract. In total there were 19 matches, two goals and four assists with the Helsingborg jersey.

During the winter he trained with the German third division team SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, without any agreement between the parties.

Alexander Farnerud is the younger brother of IFK Gothenburg Deputy Manager of Sports Pontus Farnerud.

SportExpressen has applied for Pontus Farnerud.
