Riots after the burning of the Koran

Danish far-right politician Rasmus Paludan had planned to burn the Koran in Malmö a couple of weeks ago, but was detained at the border and banned from entering Sweden for two years.

On August 28 there was still an Islamophobic demonstration in which a Koran was burned in the main square.

A few hours later, several people gathered at Amiralsgatan in Malmö and blocked the road in protest of the burning of the Koran that took place in the afternoon.

A riot broke out and several policemen were injured in the riot during the night when objects were thrown at the police.

Kvällposten has previously reported that it plans to go to Stockholm and carry out five demonstrations in vulnerable areas, including Rinkeby. However, the police have rejected Paludan’s requests.
