Aatu Räty’s career has stalled and he was not selected for the Finnish JVM team, despite being a part of last year.

Instead, his older brother Aku has become a key player for Finland.

In the 4-1 victory against Switzerland, he scored for the second consecutive game.

Aatu Räty has been one of the most described Finnish ice hockey talents in recent years. He was predicted to go high in this summer’s draft and was the youngest on the Finnish JVM team last year.

But it has been a difficult season for Räty. Development has stopped and on this year’s JVM team he didn’t even get a spot.

However, he got his one year old brother, Aku.

Aku Räty, who is far from being seen as the same talent as his younger brother, scored in Finland’s 5-3 opener win against Germany.

And against Switzerland he kept ahead again.

“A sedinare”

The match weighed 2-1 when Finland got a power play. The great talent Brad Lambert controlled the puck to the left in the front zone and hit a strong pass to the castle. There was Aku Räty and angled at 3-1 with perfect control.

– We call it “sedinare”, they probably call it something else. It’s a tried-and-true variant, says SVT expert Jonas Andersson.

– It’s perfect and Räty drives it high enough, he says.

Finland won the match 4-1.
