AIK is ready for the 2021 damallsvenskan.

The five-year wait is over.

5-1 against Bollstanäs means AIK is ready for the 2021 damallsvenskan.

– It’s just euphoria, says Evelina Finndell, who is left alone in the Allsvenskan senior team.

With four rounds to play, the conditions were simple for AIK.

The victory against the middle Bollstanäs at home in Skytteholm would ensure a return to the damallsvenskan after five years in the elite.

And, of course, it did, thanks to two teens who showed the way.

I have a dream start

19-year-old left-back Sophia Redenstrand started the shooter with a shot from range after just nine minutes.

Clara Hardling, 18, extended the lead in overtime in the first half.

Early in the second half, Bollstanäs cut back, but the match ended 5-1 at the end.

– Actually, I was very nervous before the game, but when we made it 3-1, I felt like we had this, says Evelina Finndell, who was jubilant and happy after the promotion.

– He’s completely unspeakably ill. It’s been a dream since the last time we left. I cried like hell when the final whistle sounded. I am damn proud.

Crushing goal difference

After 23 of 26 rounds, AIK has 63 points and a crushing 65-16 goal difference.

– We are definitely more prepared for the Allsvenskan now than last time, there is a long-term plan at AIK. If we get a bit of routine but at the same time we can keep the good we have, we will keep the Allsvenskan, says Evelina Finndell.

How do you celebrate?

– We’ll cook a bit now, then we’ve reserved a table somewhere for tonight, so it’s probably the night out!

Hammarby is currently in direct second place at the damallsvenskan, five points ahead of Morön. They meet tomorrow.
