Yes, because despite strong dominance in Thursday’s fifth and directly decisive meeting with Västerås, it took AIK until the 53rd minute before AIK broke the deadlock at home. Erik Pettersson took matters into his own hands, putting 1-0 behind VSK great goalkeeper Henrik Kjellsson.
68 minutes had elapsed when a great opportunity for AIK to take the lead after a good cross from the right found Pettersson alone with the goalkeeper, but he nailed it from the wrong side of the post. However, he immediately took revenge on himself and shot 2-0 just a minute later.
“Damn me”
– Yes, they condemned me, you must not miss penalties in games like this. So I thought now that I’m driving, I decided the ball bastard would get in, he says.
But Västerås would breathe new life into the party. VSK’s Daniel Johansson made no mistake from the penalty spot, 1-2.
However, AIK acquired a new two-goal lead shortly thereafter.
The semifinal ticket secured? Not at all.
Daniel Johansson, like Erik Pettersson, scored two goals in the match. Thus VSK embarked on a new search for the equalizer. But no receipt would ever arrive. Instead, Daniel Andersson closed the match with his 4-2 goal in the 90th minute.
Edsbyn is waiting in the semi
The AIK is thus prepared for the semifinals against Edsbyn, who lost 0-2 in their matches against Vänersborg.
The fifth quarter-final match was less dramatic than the one in Stockholm. After a rocky start to the game, Edsbyn led 2-1 after seven minutes, they were the home team for all the money. After going into the break at 4-1, Edsbyn went 5-1 early in the second half. After an hour of play, Oscar Wikblad put the nail in the coffin with his third goal of the match.
Vänersborg scored two consolation goals in the final ten minutes. But this was Edsbyn’s game, and you have the last word. Simon Jansson set the final score at 7-3 in extra time.
The semi-final between AIK and Edsbyn starts on Sunday in Stockholm.
