AIK’s golden dreams in bandy are still alive. But he was close to finishing in the quarterfinals.
Despite strong dominance in Thursday’s fifth and decisive meeting with Västerås, it took the home side until the 53rd minute to break the deadlock. Erik Pettersson took matters into his own hands, putting 1-0 behind VSK great goalkeeper Henrik Kjellsson.
68 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for AIK to take the lead after a good cross from the right found Erik Pettersson alone on goal, but the ball hit the wrong side of the post. However, he immediately took revenge on himself and shot 2-0 just a minute later.
But Västerås would breathe new life into the party. VSK’s Daniel Johansson made no mistake from the penalty spot, 1-2.
However, AIK made it 3-1 (Christian Frohm) a few minutes later.
The semifinal ticket secured? Not at all.
Daniel Johansson gave VSK a new climate with his second goal of the match. But no receipt would ever arrive. Instead, Daniel Andersson closed the match with his 4-2 goal in the 90th minute.
