For three days in a row, wolf attacks on sheep have been reported throughout Osby Township.
Concern among sheep owners in North Skåne is great, says Jan Hultgren, business developer at LRF Skåne to TT.
– There are people who say they host the crews overnight. It works if you have five to ten sheep. But if you have 200 …
Over the weekend, five sheep in northern Skåne were attacked by wolves, two of which died. According to the county administrative board, this is a wolf individual who probably hails from the north. Sheep owners are urged to fence their pastures.
Wolf within society
LRF has submitted an application for hunting protection.
“The latest attacks in Skåne show how difficult it is to stop wolves from attacking sheep. LRF Skåne makes the assessment that it is most likely the same wolf that was in the area and caused the attacks in Osby municipality, “LRF writes in its application.
The request has yet to be responded to, according to Jan Hultgren.
– Now we have developed a hunting leader if it will be protection hunting, so be prepared. And we have texted members in Osby and Östra Göinge. They must be more vigilant because this wolf has taken sheep three days in a row.
This weekend’s wolf attacks occurred near Osby in northeast Skåne. Just a few weeks ago, a wolf was observed inside Osby as he ran through the streets.
