When the social partners decided earlier this week to resume negotiations on labor law, V’s leader Jonas Sjöstedt temporarily withdrew his threat of censorship to Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.
But after LO’s message to say no to the proposal that was on the table, the threat from the Left Party will be revived.
– The position of the Left Party is firm. We will not tolerate Löfven remaining prime minister if the government goes ahead and turns LAS’s research proposal into law, Jonas Sjöstedt writes on Twitter.

The moderates, the Christian Democrats and Sweden’s Democrats have said they will support a vote of no confidence against Stefan Löfven if there is a vote in the Riksdag chamber. Thus, there is a majority to vote against Stefan Löfven and the current government.
The background to the threat is what the ruling parties agreed to in the January agreement with the Center Party and the Liberals. The agreement establishes that the labor legislation will be modified, among other things through more exceptions to the priority rules. The social partners have the opportunity to negotiate such a model; otherwise, the government-commissioned research proposals will be implemented.
On the part of the Left Party is research a red curtain. V has promised to arouse Stefan Löfven’s mistrust if the investigation proposal is presented.
– We are now awaiting Löfven’s response, which is what completely determines how we will act in the future. If they step down to make law on the latest investigation proposal, he can stay. Now this is determined by Löfven’s position. Should he go down in history as the prime minister who destroys Swedish job security ?, Jonas Sjöstedt tells TT.
Leader C Annie Lööf is disappointed that LO was unable to meet with her counterparts in the Confederation of Swedish Companies and PTK.
– Organizations that have the strength to take responsibility in difficult situations are worthy of respect. Unfortunately, LO has proven incapable of assuming that responsibility. It is very regrettable and a historical mistake, Annie Lööf comments.
– As the parties have not reached an agreement, we are proceeding as planned with the January agreement, where we have a robust and balanced investigation. So of course we are prepared to listen to PTK and the Swedish Business Confederation if they want to design a new major agreement together, he continues.
Liberal party leader Nyamko Sabuni regrets that LO says no to the proposal that was on the table. She emphasizes that now it is the research proposal that is applied.
– That the investigation on a modernized labor legislation is going to be carried out now is very clear. More exceptions are needed in LAS, not in the January agreement, Nyamko Sabuni says.
Labor Minister Eva Nordmark (S) does not want to comment on LO’s no before hearing what the Confederation of Swedish Companies and PTK have to say.
