After the criticism: Apotea recognizes shortcomings in the work environment

In several articles, the Dagens ETC newspaper has reported on misconduct by Apotea employees at the main warehouse in Morgongåva. About 30 employees must have testified about a work environment where, among other things, stress and camera surveillance.

– In the responses we compiled, there is a general perception that you are being monitored by a camera. They testify about stress and collective punishment if something goes wrong, Union regional ombudsman Jörgen Gustavsson tells TT.

Locked doors

An example given in the articles is that the supervisors must have locked the door and said that no one can leave the building, but must work ordered overtime.

– The managers must have stopped at the exit and prevented them from leaving. It feels like some kind of kidnapping and we have to discuss what happened, says Jörgen Gustavsson.

Pär Svärdson, CEO of Apotea, admits that errors have occurred.

– Then the supervisor stopped at the exit and reported that the session had not ended. It was an unfortunate incident that we learned from and after the incident we have actively worked to improve communication, but we have definitely broken our working environment, says Pär Svärdson to TT.

When TT visited the facility in Morgongåva, there was a digital time clock at the workplace that ticked while the packages were being completed. According to Pär Svärdson, the reason is not to see how quickly employees pack the packages.

– This is to see when the last packet was packed in a station, so colleagues can see if the station is empty or not.

How do you explain concerns about camera surveillance in the workplace?

– We do not monitor cameras for any employees, but we do have cameras as we have sensitive products such as prescription drugs. If one or more employees feel monitored, we must improve in explaining what they are used for and when. Of course, you shouldn’t feel monitored.

The information will now be investigated by the Unionen union.
