After SVT reveal: NFC takes criticism

Prosecutors, lawyers and experts have reacted strongly to Thursday’s revelation that NFC, the National Forensic Center, does not fully analyze all clues from the crime scene and does not say so clearly.

NFC department head Helena Trolläng does not believe there are unsolved murders due to DNA limits. At the same time, he takes up the criticism that the NFC provides very little information about what has been done with the clues from the crime scene.

– We have to take that question into account and think if we should be even more pedagogical in the statements of the experts, he says.

Helena Trolläng points out that NFC can go below the limit value and complete the analysis of DNA traces in serious crimes.

– I am sure that no murderer has been innocently convicted by the methodology we have. I am also confident that we do not have unsolved murders in Sweden because of the border we have, says Helena Trolläng.
