Sanna Lundell and her neighbors called for the death of a seriously injured moose.

Now the moose is dead, game pathologist Erik Ågren confirms to Aftonbladet.

– The moose was suitable for slaughter for animal welfare reasons.

It was on Saturday that Aftonbladet wrote about the injured and sick moose in Norra Sorunda, according to the journalist Sanna lundell, 41, and his neighbors tried in vain to have them killed for several weeks.

The moose had likely been affected by moose flies and then may have injured itself with its antlers when it tried to scratch itself. It caused large wounds and there were larvae in the wound area.

Many have been upset about the fate of the moose and have also heard from Aftonbladet and called for the moose to be killed.

On Sunday, the moose was killed.

“I have support”

Viltpathologists Erik Ågren, who is an assistant state veterinarian at the Swedish Veterinary Institute, tells Aftonbladet that he has been in contact with the coordinator of search hunters in the area.

– In my role as a game pathologist, I had judged both in images and listened to how the moose had behaved and my assessment is that the moose was apt to kill for animal welfare reasons, that is, to reduce suffering. In practical terms, how it should be done and done correctly, those handling the search had to take charge, but they were supported to be able to say that it was time to kill him so that he did not leave and suffer unnecessarily.

Sanna Lundell writes on Instagram:

“Now you finally don’t have to suffer!”
