– Yes, it was messy. First flight to Frankfurt where we (Olle and his girlfriend) had to wait twelve hours for a connecting flight to Stockholm. Then train from Stockholm to Östersund.

– Most of it was closed at the Frankfurt airport, so to get something to eat we had to go through a couple of security checks, in both directions. But now we’re home, and that’s good, he says.

Home is at the house in Fjällmon in Östersund, with dad Mats and mom Eva. However, there is still a quarantine that is applied to one part of the house.

– But there is another freedom here, you can go out. In Madrid we were nesting in the apartment, you could only go out if you went shopping. Every day there were police cars and police patrolling the street in front of our house.

How did being locked up in the apartment work for a month, considering you need to keep your body in shape?

– We had a fairly large apartment, so we had a room where we could train with weights and other things. You just had to make the best of the situation.

Fall 2018 the then talented 18-year-old Östersund moved to Spain and Ponferrada. This season he represented the Madrid club Real Canoa, which belongs to the second league. And a couple of months ago he made his national team debut in the European qualifiers against Croatia and Turkey.

The contract with Real Canoe was written in one year. This means that you may have to find new employers for the upcoming season.

– I am waiting for information on how this season will be handled. But I very much doubt that the remaining matches will be played. Then we’ll see.

How do you think

– I hope to return to Spain. If he doesn’t become Real Canoe, I hope I can go to another club in the second league, or maybe one in the first league.

You have been hurt. How is your state

– I have a jumping knee. It hurts, but I can train and play. However, only up to 70-80 percent.

– Now I have time to rehabilitate myself in peace and tranquility. And when I’m out of quarantine, I think there is an opportunity to train with Jämtland.

Maybe you stay in Östersund?

– No. In fact, there is the interest of the highest league in Spain, and that league has a very high quality. So I am ready to fall again when the Spanish authorities ease the restrictions.
