The city of Malmö will close its sports and swimming facilities for the general public and the life of the association as of Monday. Leisure centers are also closing and all fun activities in Malmö are on hiatus.
The libraries closed last Saturday. Baden closed a month ago. Now also the sports and swimming facilities that have been open for children’s sports and club life in Malmö are being closed.
– We have had children’s activities open all the time, with this decision affecting children and young people but also associative life in general, says Johan Hermansson, leisure director.
Individual sports facilities will be open to elite professional athletes, but not to the public. The outdoor facilities are also closed for association activities.
– Our decision is based on protecting the most vulnerable in society. To further help keep crowds, congestion and travel in the region low, the Malmö City Library, leisure center facilities and cultural activities for children and young people will close until 24 January. says Per-Erik Ebbeståhl, Malmö City Management Strategist.
Malmö City Leisure Centers have been open to primary school students but not secondary school students since 23 November. Now they close completely and do not reopen until January 24, but the business is still digital or outdoor.
– We try to see how we can do to get the presence of an adult. Those who work with this know how to find the youth and then the activities can be carried out in an infection-proof way, says Johan Hermansson, director of entertainment.
All weekend activities at Kul in Malmö are also on hiatus.
– These are holiday activities in which you have spontaneous activities and in which the life of the association usually leads. They are difficult to implement without contributing to group meetings. That’s why they are on hiatus, says Johan Hermansson.
