It was in November last year that a Kalmar baby died under unclear circumstances during a taxi ride, and the boy’s parents were suspected of murder or murder. The mother was also detained for the crime for a week. It is true that she was released, but criminal suspicions remain.
Now, almost a year later, District Attorney Jeanette Boye has closed the preliminary investigation and dismissed all criminal suspicions.
– All criminal suspicions in this case are canceled, chamber prosecutor Jeanette Boye tells SVT.
Is it really reasonable that it should take about a year before I come to a conclusion on such a serious criminal classification?
– It is a medical examiner in Lund who examined this child, and several examinations have been carried out in order to make an evaluation as accurate as possible, and immediately when I received the statement from the forensic medicine, I was able to cancel the case.
“Sadly a long time”
Which led to suspicions of crime at an earlier stage in connection with the death of the child, the District Attorney Jeanette Boye does not want to respond.
– It is regrettable that the investigation has taken a long time as regards the family. Police and prosecutors have been interested in having regular contact with forensic doctors in Lund to expedite this statement.
What responses did you get there then?
– That they have needed the investigation to be more accurate and that they needed this time to arrive at a statement, says chamber prosecutor Jeanette Boye.
