Albin Lagergren of the national handball team has yet to receive a response to the PCR test after he tested positive for covid-19 in a rapid test.

But the national team leadership does not have high hopes for a change like Linn Svahn of the national ski team.

– I have been in contact with infection control doctors and according to them it is the case that a positive rapid test is 99 percent reliable, says the doctor of the national handball team Daniel Jerrhag in a digital press conference.

The response from the PCR test is expected to come later today. It was yesterday that the national handball team announced that Lagergren will miss the World Cup in Egypt after he tested positive for covid-19 in a rapid test.

– I am not an infection control doctor and if it is negative I should contact an infection control doctor to find out how we should proceed. But new tests will likely be needed then, Jerrhag says.

Linn Svahn from the national ski team left a positive rapid test earlier this week during the Tour de Ski, but received the answer last night that the PCR test was negative and therefore got the green light to compete more .

The national handball team has had two positive cases of COVID-19 during the week (Anton Lindskog tested positive first and misses the World Cup) and has therefore been quarantined. Players train individually, but no team training takes place.

The World Cup in Egypt starts next week and Sweden will face the Czech Republic in the first match on Thursday.
